Bulbasaur Trio--Part I

Here's the first of my Bulbasaur evolution series. Naturally, the first one up is Pokemon #1: Bulbasaur. One of my difficulties in making these patterns is that I had a lot of difficulties finding the proper shades for these guys, which is why he is the color he is. I couldn't wait though, since he is my favorite. One day, I hope to find the right color for him and I'll put new pictures, but for now, this will do. As always, contact me if you have any questions. I hope you like him!

Materials:
Yarn in 2 different shades of green (regular Bulbasaur is a bluish-green with his bulb being the color of my Bulbasaur body)
Crochet hook (using your own descretion according to yarn size; I used a 4.0 mm hook with worsted weight yarn)
Small amount black embroidery floss
Green felt
White felt
Pink felt (or color white felt pink as I did)
Small amounts red felt
Fabric paint (optional for toes and teeth, you can also use felt)

Body

Note: Initially, I had made the body one increased round bigger (at rnd 6), which is the one you see in the picture. Although I left mine as is, for the pattern I took out that round so yours won't be as plump. You can put that round back in if you like, just follow the math of the other increases (it should come out to 36 sc)

Rnd 1-10: Repeat Rnds 1-10 of head
Rnd 11-17: sc in each sc around
Rnd 18-20: repeat Rnds 11-13 of head (12 sc at end of Rnd 20)
Fasten off leaving a long tail. Sew to head.

Back Legs (Make 2)

Rnd 3: sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat around (18 sc)
Rnd 4-5: sc in each sc around
Rnd 6: sc in next sc, sc dec in next 2 sc around (12 sc)
Fasten off.
Sew to body at a slight angle.

Bulb

Note: This is probably the most complicated part, I tried to write the instructions as best as I could but yours may not be exactly the same, so if you find yourself getting something different, you may want to adjust according to your own judgmenet.
Rnd 1: Ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd chain from hook (6 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc)

Rnd 11: skip sl st, sc in next sc, sc dec in next 2 sc, sc in next sc, sl st in next s st, repeat all steps around (must be 24 sc at this point, you may have to hedge it a bit)
Rnd 12: sc in next 2 sc, sc dec in next 2 sc around (18 sc)
Rnd 13: sc in next sc, sc dec in next 2 sc (12 sc)
Rnd 14: repeat Rnd 13 (8 sc)
Rnd 15-17: sc in each sc around
Fasten off, leaving a long tail
Using the slip stitches in the bulb portion as a guide, embroider a few stitches from top to bottom, pulling to form a groove

Finishing
Cut felt into shapes for markings and for eyes and mouth as shown (if you want a closed mouth, you can embroider it). Either glue or stick (if you're a cheater and use sticky felt like me) to the body. Once everything is in the position you want it, you can sew the bulb to the back. Embroider the nostrils and eye indent. Use the fabric paint to make 3 toes on each foot and 2 fangs. You can also use felt--that was what I originally did, as you can see from the picture, but the toes fell off so I had to replace them. Add any remaining details you like, and that's it! Unless I forgot to write any steps, in which case, please tell me. Happy crocheting!

Vulpix

This is a side project I finished while I was working on my big 3-part project, which hopefully I will finish in the next couple of months. It was actually easier than I expected; the trickest part wasn't crocheting at all, but getting the eyes right. I ended up making it a closed eye version after various failed attempts. I think she looks cute this way, but if anyone makes a good eye version, I'd love to see it. She's posable, and can either sit or stand. I hope you like her, and as always, if there are questions, let me know.

Update Hair instructions added, sorry for the confusion.
